Born and raised in Malaysia, Xin Yi is a 2019 International Dean's Excellence scholar at the University of Toronto, currently pursuing her MA in Hispanic Linguistics with a collaborative specialisation in Diaspora and Transnational Studies after having graduated from the same institution specialising in Hispanic Linguistics with a Latin American Studies minor. She is passionate about languages, graphic design and sports. Linguistically, she is conversationally fluent in at least 11 languages, of which she speaks 6 at the advance level. She is also a former professional figure skater and karate martial artist and has been fervently working in graphic design since 2017. 

Xin Yi is an extremely motivated, creative and organised workaholic who thrives individually as well as in team settings. She is an adaptable individual capable of undertaking multiple domains of professional responsibilities simultaneously without compromising quality. She strongly believes in quality over quantity and consistently reflects such values through her robust work ethic.
